CAMPER DESTROYED IN EARLY MORNING FIRE

A camper trailer was destroyed by a fire early Saturday morning on Fitzgerald Place in St. Philip’s.

Members of the Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s Volunteer Fire Department were called to the area at approximately 5:00 a.m. and arrived to find heavy flames and smoke coming from the rear of the camper.

The trailer, which was occupied by two people at the time, was parked within approximately 50 feet of a garage. Firefighters quickly deployed attack lines and worked to bring the fire under control while protecting the nearby structure.

Both occupants were able to get out safely, and no injuries have been reported.
