St. John’s Regional Fire Department responded to an emergency situation just after lunchtime on Thursday, March 6, when a Delta Airlines Airbus A330 was forced to make an unscheduled landing at St. John’s International Airport.

Flight VS3952, which was en route from Amsterdam to Boston, was diverted to St. John’s due to an unspecified in-flight emergency. The aircraft, a large commercial airliner, made a successful landing at 12:28 p.m., and emergency crews were on standby to provide immediate assistance.

Details surrounding the nature of the emergency remain unclear, and authorities have not yet released information regarding the specific issue that led to the diversion.
