Ferryland RCMP Seek Public’s Help to Identify Suspect in Avondale Shipping Container Break-In Attempt

Ferryland RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance to identify a male suspect, who investigators believe attempted to break into a group of metal shipping containers on Dock Ridge Road in Avondale during the early morning hours of January 3, 2026.

Officers with Avalon East District RCMP received a report om Saturday of three shipping containers that had been broken into, with heavy damage to the property.

Video surveillance captured a male suspect attempting to break into the shipping containers using a tool, which police suspect is a metal grinder. A still photo from the surveillance video shows the sparks of the grinder as the break and enter attempt was occurring.

Video surveillance from the previous day, Friday afternoon, shows the same male suspect walking around the area. Stills from this surveillance are also included here.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the male suspect who is believed to have attempted the break and enter and caused severe damage to the property.

The investigation remains ongoing.
