Shortly before 5:00 p.m. on Thursday (May 7th), Emergency crews, including the St. John’s Regional Fire Department, Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and NL Health Services responded to a single-vehicle crash on Kenmount Road near Pollard Avenue in Paradise, after a vehicle left the roadway, entered a ditch, and struck a concrete culvert retaining wall causing extensive front-end damage.
An SJRFD Platoon Chief confirmed that when firefighters arrived on the scene, the male driver had already exited the vehicle but was shaken up from the incident. Firefighters assessed the man until paramedics arrived a short time later.
Once paramedics were on scene, the man was loaded onto a stretcher and transported by ambulance to hospital as a precautionary measure.
Traffic in the area was reduced to one lane for a brief period while emergency crews worked at the scene, but traffic quickly cleared after firefighters and paramedics cleared the area.
