(July 27th)

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is investigating an assault that occurred in Torbay earlier this month.

At approximately 2:45 p.m. on Sunday, July 19th, emergency crews including the Torbay Volunteer Fire Department, Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and NL Health Services responded to the end of Franella Place, off Bauline Line, following a reported collision. Officers with the RNC’s Collision Investigations Team was engaged and responded to the scene to conduct an investigation into the incident.

There were unconfirmed reports suggesting that an altercation had occurred and that one individual may have struck another with a vehicle before leaving the area. However, police have not confirmed those details.

On Monday, July 27th, the RNC confirmed that officers responded to a report of an assault at the location. Police say the investigation remains ongoing and no charges have been laid at this time.

The RNC has not released any additional information, and details surrounding the incident remain limited.
