MAN ARRESTED ON THEFT AND WEAPONS CHARGES

Police in Stephenville have arrested a 31-year-old Kippens man in relation to a reported theft, breaches of court-ordered conditions and weapons-related offences.

At approximately 11:30 a.m. on August 17, Bay St. George RCMP responded to a report of a theft from a liquor store on Prince Rupert Drive in Stephenville.

Police identified and located the suspect, who was arrested without incident and transported to the RCMP detachment in Stephenville.

During a search following his arrest, officers discovered the man was in possession of a knife.

Jordan Young, 31, of Kippens, was charged with theft under $5,000, failing to comply with a probation order, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and carrying a concealed weapon.

RCMP say Young is well known to police and faces a little over 40 additional outstanding Criminal Code offences.

Young was held in custody and was scheduled to appear in court today, August 18.
