RNC CONTINUING TO INVESTIGATE HIT-AND-RUN IN TORBAY N.L

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary continues to investigate a hit-and-run collision that damaged two parked vehicles and caused structural damage to a home on Torbay Road in the Town of Torbay.

An update provided by the RNC on Wednesday, Sept. 9th, confirms that the investigation remains ongoing and is being handled by the RNC’s Accident Investigation Unit.

The collision occurred Saturday evening, Sept. 5th, at approximately 6:05 p.m. Emergency crews, including members of the Torbay Volunteer Fire Department and the RNC, responded to a residence on Torbay Road, where they found two unoccupied vehicles damaged in the driveway.

The impact pushed one of the vehicles into the home, causing damage to the structure. No injuries were reported from within the home.

Torbay Road was closed between Flemings Hill and North Pond Road while emergency crews worked at the scene and police conducted their investigation. Officers with the RNC’s Accident Investigation Unit also attended.

Information gathered at the scene indicates that a red Toyota, travelling toward Torbay Beach, struck the two parked vehicles before fleeing the area. Red debris believed to be from the suspect vehicle was found at the scene, including two Toyota hubcaps.

The homeowner whose property was damaged is now seeking information that may help identify the person or persons responsible. A reward is being offered for information that leads to the identification or arrest of those responsible.
