DETAILS BEHIND REID’S SAFE RETURN HOME

(Oct 5th)
According to an update from Marisa Reid, the search involved seven motion-sensing cellular trail cameras and three live traps. After Reid moved into the town of Gander and appeared to remain in the area, the traps were relocated into town with the help of residents who allowed baited traps to be placed on their properties.
The breakthrough came when Reid was spotted near one of the traps.
His owner’s mother was notified and immediately monitored the camera feed. Reid eventually entered the trap, and she arrived within five minutes.
When she approached, Reid initially growled and barked. She sat nearby until he caught her scent and recognized her. He then began pawing at the crate.
With help from people who had assisted in the search, Reid was transported, still inside the trap, to a nearby garage before the crate was opened in case he became frightened and ran. Instead, he had no interest in leaving.
Reid was then prepared for the trip home. He quickly jumped over the seat in his mother’s vehicle so he could lie beside her for the drive.
Once home, Reid immediately returned to his old personality but was extremely exhausted, sleeping for much of the day and night. Family and friends also visited, and he was reportedly not afraid.
Reid was taken to a veterinarian the following morning for a thorough examination. He was found to have no significant injuries from the accident. A small limp was attributed to sore feet after running for an extended period.
However, Reid had lost approximately 30 pounds, dropping from 113 pounds to 83 pounds.
Despite the significant weight loss, his bloodwork was fine and he appeared to be doing well. He is currently taking antibiotics and pain medication.
Reid is being slowly reintroduced to food under the direction of his veterinarian to avoid gastrointestinal issues. His family is confident he will regain the weight and return to being the “big fluffy bear” they know.
The family says the safe return is bringing a happy ending to what had been a frightening ordeal.
