A 41-year-old man has had his vehicle seized and driver’s licence suspended after being caught stunting on Veterans Memorial Highway (Route 75).

According to the RCMP, an officer with Traffic Services East was conducting proactive patrols around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4th, when they observed a vehicle performing donuts on the Hodgewater Line exit ramp toward Makinsons.

Police immediately stopped the vehicle and issued the driver a summary offence ticket under the Highway Traffic Act for stunting.

The man’s vehicle was seized at the roadside and impounded, and his driver’s licence was suspended.

The RCMP reminds motorists that stunting includes dangerous driving behaviours such as excessive speeding, racing, burnouts, donuts and other intentionally dangerous manoeuvres.

In Newfoundland and Labrador, stunting can result in significant penalties, including fines, licence suspensions, vehicle impoundments and, depending on the offence, potential jail time.

Police emphasize that these actions put both drivers and other road users at risk.
