$1.9-MILLION INVESTMENT TO PROVIDE MEMORIAL STUDENTS WITH MORE MATH SUPPORT

Starting this fall, Memorial University students will have access to additional supports designed to help them transition from high school mathematics to university-level math.

The new supports are being made possible through a $1.9-million investment from the Hibernia Project, with a focus on helping students build confidence and strengthen their mathematics skills.

Students will have access to more support earlier in their studies, including small-group tutorials and review sessions. Summer bridging programs and math boot camps will also provide students with additional preparation before and during their transition to university.

The investment will also support stronger first-year mathematics courses designed to better assist students as they adjust to university-level coursework.

According to Memorial University, the goal is to help students develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed in their programs and beyond.

“These supports go a long way in enhancing our students’ university experience at Memorial and we are very thankful to the Hibernia Project for the investment,” said Dr. Janet Morrison.

The investment is intended to make mathematics a pathway to student success while helping more students successfully complete their chosen degrees.
