Driver Charged with Impaired Driving After Single-Vehicle Crash in St. John's

St. John’s, NL – September 21, 2025 — Emergency crews responded to a single-vehicle crash late Saturday night in the area of the Cloverleaf in St. John’s.
At approximately 11:20 p.m. on September 20th, personnel from the St. John's Regional Fire Department (SJRFD), Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC), and NL Health Services (NLHS) were called to the scene. The incident occurred on the Pitts Memorial Drive on-ramp heading westbound onto the Trans-Canada Highway.
Upon arrival, first responders found that the vehicle had left the on-ramp and travelled down a small embankment, coming to rest in a grassy area. The driver, a 20-year-old male, remained at the scene and was showing signs of impairment.
Paramedics assessed the driver on-site but he was not taken to the hospital. Following a brief investigation, the man was charged with Impaired Driving and Impaired Driving Exceeding 80 Milligrams of Alcohol per 100 Millilitres of Blood. His vehicle was seized, and his driver’s license was suspended.
The driver was released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date. In addition to the criminal charges, he was issued a summary offence ticket for driving without insurance.
