ST. PHILIP’S, NL – September 21, 2025 — Emergency crews responded to a single-vehicle rollover on Dogberry Hill Road in St. Philip’s shortly after 12:00 p.m. on Sunday.
The Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s Volunteer Fire Department (PCSPVFD) was called to the scene between Emylia Place and County Garden Road, where they found a vehicle overturned onto its roof in front of 154 Dogberry Hill Road.
Firefighters quickly stabilized the vehicle and assessed the male driver, who was the sole occupant at the time of the crash. The driver was alert and walking around after the crash occurred. Paramedics with NL Health Services (NLHS) later assessed the man on scene and confirmed that he had not sustained any injuries and did not require transport to hospital.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) closed the road while firefighters secured the area. Police gathered information and managed traffic control.
According to initial observations at the scene, the vehicle was traveling down Dogberry Hill Road toward County Garden Road when it left the roadway, entered a small ditch, and struck a pole, causing it to overturn. The vehicle sustained extensive damage in the incident.
Traffic remained closed for approximately one hour. At around 1:10 p.m., police reopened the road to one lane as they awaited the arrival of a tow truck to remove the overturned vehicle.
