FENTANYL SEIZED AFTER TRAFFIC STOP IN GRAND FALLS-WINDSOR

(Oct 28th)
A 30-year-old man from Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s is facing impaired driving and drug possession charges after Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP discovered suspected fentanyl and other items during a traffic-related investigation Friday night.
Shortly before 10:30 p.m. on October 23, officers working on King Street noticed a male driver behind the wheel of a parked pickup truck who exhibited signs of impairment by drugs.
The man was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and brought to the Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP detachment.
His vehicle was seized and impounded, and his driver’s licence was suspended.
A subsequent search of the man and the vehicle resulted in the seizure of drug paraphernalia, suspected Schedule 1 drugs believed to be fentanyl, contraband tobacco products and other unidentified pills.
The man was assessed and treated at the detachment by Emergency Medical Services personnel. He was later released from police custody with conditions and transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.
The 30-year-old has been released to appear in Provincial Court in December 2026 to answer to charges of operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs and possession of a controlled substance, fentanyl.
The investigation is continuing.
