(Sept 8th)

Fogo Island RCMP seized two vehicles and issued multiple tickets during separate traffic stops on Friday, September 4, as officers conducted proactive patrols in the area.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., officers patrolling Route 334 stopped a vehicle and requested the mandatory documentation. The 32-year-old male driver was unable to provide a valid driver’s licence.

A check confirmed that the man’s licence was suspended and that he owed fines in excess of $12,000. Police seized and impounded the vehicle, while the driver was issued a ticket under the Highway Traffic Act for driving while disqualified.

Later that evening, at approximately 9:15 p.m., the same officers stopped another vehicle while patrolling Route 333. Police determined that the vehicle was not registered and that its insurance and registration, as well as the driver’s licence, had expired.

The 46-year-old female driver was issued tickets for operating a vehicle without a policy of insurance and operating a vehicle with an expired licence. Her vehicle was also seized and impounded.
