A 44-year-old man is facing 12 Criminal Code charges after Deer Lake RCMP tracked him to a residence in Corner Brook and arrested him early Saturday morning following an investigation into alleged threats, assault, breaches of court-ordered conditions and attempts to intimidate a participant in an ongoing court proceeding.

Conrad Crocker was arrested shortly before 2:00 a.m. Saturday by Deer Lake RCMP, with assistance from the RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT), the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) and the RCMP West District General Investigation Section.

The investigation began on Wednesday, October 21, when Deer Lake RCMP received reports that Crocker, 44, was repeatedly making unwanted contact with an individual in person and by phone, allegedly violating his court-imposed conditions and uttering threats of harm. Crocker and the victim were known to each other.

Around noon on Friday, October 23, a Deer Lake RCMP officer on patrol observed Crocker’s vehicle on the Trans-Canada Highway and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle fled and was later found on a residential street in Deer Lake.

The discovery prompted police to issue an advisory asking the public to avoid the surrounding area while officers attempted to locate and arrest Crocker.

With assistance from the RNC and the RCMP West District General Investigation Section, Deer Lake RCMP investigators continued their efforts and eventually tracked Crocker to a residence in Corner Brook.

Out of an abundance of caution, the RCMP Emergency Response Team was also deployed to the home. Crocker was taken into custody without incident shortly before 2:00 a.m. Saturday.

He was held in custody and faces 12 Criminal Code charges, including assault, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, criminal harassment, intimidation of a justice system participant and failure to comply with a condition of a release order.

Crocker remains in custody, with his next court appearance scheduled for November 3

To protect the privacy of the victim and the integrity of the court proceedings, no additional details are being shared publicly at this time.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are possible.
