REID’S 45-DAY JOURNEY BECOMES CHILDREN’S BOOK

(Oct 31st)
A family whose dog, Reid, survived 45 days on his own in the woods of Central Newfoundland after a collision on the Trans-Canada Highway has turned his remarkable story into a children’s book.
According to information submitted by the family, Reid went missing following a collision on the highway. After 45 days on his own, he was eventually reunited with his family.
The search for Reid came with significant expenses. However, his owners, Carmel Mackey, and her daughter, Marisa Reid, were adamant that they did not want to accept donations to help cover the costs.
Instead, the family decided to turn Reid’s adventure into a children’s book. Marisa and her mother wrote and illustrated the book, titled “Reid and the Wonderful Wild”.
The book follows Reid on a heartwarming adventure through the woods of Central Newfoundland, featuring new friends, woodland wonders and a reminder that there is no place like home.
“Reid and the Wonderful Wild” is available on Amazon for $20 CAD.
Local pickup is also available in the St. John’s area through Marisa Reid, or in the Glovertown and Gander areas through Reid’s owner, Carmel Mackey.
