TRACKING DEVICE LEADS POLICE TO ST. JOHN’S BACKYARD

A 42-year-old man is facing charges after police say merchandise stolen from a business in the east end of St. John’s was tracked to a nearby backyard.

At approximately 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 6th, officers with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary’s Operational Patrol Services responded to a report of a theft from a business in the east end of St. John’s.

Police say the stolen merchandise contained a hidden anti-theft tracking device. Officers tracked the merchandise and located the suspect in the east end.

When the suspect saw police, he ran and attempted to hide while still carrying the merchandise containing the tracking device.

The suspect was subsequently tracked to a nearby backyard, where police located him.

The 42-year-old male now faces charges of Theft and Breach of Probation.
