WHEEL TORN FROM SUV IN PEACEKEEPERS WAY COLLISION

(Sept 7th)
Emergency crews responded to a motor vehicle collision involving at least two-vehicles on Peacekeepers Way in Conception Bay South on Monday evening.
At approximately 6:00 p.m. on Labour Day, September 7th, personnel from the Conception Bay South Fire Department, Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and NL Health Services were called to the collision between Minerals Road and Foxtrap Access Road.
Upon arrival, responders located one sedan on the roadway with extensive damage. A second vehicle, an SUV, had left the roadway and came to rest in a ditch on an ATV trail near Rocky Place.
The force of the collision caused the SUV’s rear passenger-side wheel to completely separate from the vehicle, landing just feet away.
Firefighters with the CBSFD and NLHS paramedics assessed all occupants involved in the collision. One individual appeared to have sustained a head injury but was not transported to hospital by ambulance. The status of any other injuries is unknown at this time.
Peacekeepers Way was completely closed to traffic while emergency crews responded to the scene and cleared the wreckage. The scene was fully cleared before 9:00 p.m.
More information will be provided as it becomes available.
