MASKED TRIO BREAKS INTO HOME, ASSAULTS OCCUPANT

Police are investigating a violent early-morning break and enter in Bonavista N.L that left one person hospitalized after being assaulted inside their home.

At approximately 3:50 a.m. on September 17th, Clarenville-Bonavista District RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter at a residence on Sebastian Drive.

According to police, three masked individuals were captured on video surveillance forcing their way into the home, where they assaulted the lone occupant.

The suspects caused notable damage inside the residence and stole items belonging to the victim before fleeing the area on foot.

The victim was transported to hospital for treatment of injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

The RCMP East District General Investigation Section (GIS) has taken the lead in the investigation.

Police are asking anyone who may recognize the three individuals captured on surveillance, or who has information about the incident, to contact Bonavista RCMP at 709-468-7333 or dial 911.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. RCMP say no additional details are being released at this time to protect the privacy of the victim.
