Members of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary’s (RNC) Traffic Services conducted an enforcement initiative across areas of the Northeast Avalon on October 24 and 25, targeting off-road vehicle use.

Multiple tickets were issued under the Off-Road Vehicles Act, largely for operating on roadways and operating without supervision or insurance.

As a result of the enforcement initiative, two dirtbikes were seized. Parents were also ticketed for allowing the vehicles to be operated without supervision.

Fines range from $325 to $650.

The RNC is encouraging all road users to make safe choices to help prevent injuries and deaths on roadways. Police are also urging the public to report unsafe driving behaviours directly to police.

Anyone with information about unsafe driving is asked to call 911.
