A 30-year-old Quebec man has been charged with impaired driving following a traffic stop in Labrador City early Tuesday morning.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Operational Patrol Services conducted the stop in the area of Drake Avenue around 1:15 a.m. on October 27, following a tip from the public.

The driver failed a roadside screening test and was arrested. He was subsequently charged with impaired driving and operating over the legal limit.

His vehicle was impounded, and his licence was suspended. He was released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

The RNC continues to urge the public to report dangerous or impaired driving directly to police by calling 911.
