MAIN POINT MAN CHARGED WITH CHILD EXPLOITATION OFFENCES

(Oct 28th)
A 51-year-old man from Main Point has been arrested and charged with several online child exploitation offences following a months-long investigation by the RCMP-RNC Integrated Internet Child Exploitation (IICE) Unit.
Gerald Nippard was arrested on Monday, October 26th, following an investigation that began earlier this year.
In March, investigators executed a search warrant at a residence in Main Point after receiving a report of online child exploitation activity. Several electronic devices were seized and subjected to forensic analysis.
Following the examination of those devices and the collection of additional evidence, police arrested Nippard and charged him with four offences:
- Possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
- Accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
- Distribution of child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
- Breach of a Sexual Offences Prohibition Order.
Nippard was released from custody under conditions intended to protect the public. He is scheduled to appear in Gander Provincial Court on December 15th, 2026.
Police explained that investigations involving child exploitation material often take several months due to the extensive forensic examination required to analyze seized electronic devices and gather evidence.
The RCMP-RNC IICE Unit is also reminding parents, caregivers and young people of the importance of understanding online risks and practising internet safety.
