MULTIPLE ASSAULTS IN DOWNTOWN, WOMAN ARRESTED

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) has arrested a 34-year-old woman following multiple assaults in St. John’s Thursday afternoon.

On October 29, around 12:30 p.m., RNC officers responded to a reported assault on Water Street, where a male had been assaulted by an unknown female and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Operational Patrol Services searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect, who was later identified as 34-year-old Alyssa Spurrell.

Around 5:30 p.m., officers conducting routine patrols observed Spurrell on Lime Street. She fled on foot and assaulted a passerby before officers arrested her.

Spurrell was held to appear in court today, October 30, facing two counts of assault and two counts of failure to comply with a release order.
