RNC POLICE DOGS SHARE HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIPS

(Oct 30th)

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary’s Police Dog Services are sharing some Halloween safety reminders today, with help from their four-legged officers.

Through a series of Halloween-themed messages, Reggie, Fogo, Mackey and Seaforce are reminding trick-or-treaters and motorists to take precautions this Halloween.

Tips include staying in groups while trick-or-treating, planning routes ahead of time, using sidewalks and designated crosswalks, and looking both ways before crossing the street.

Children are also reminded to inspect their Halloween treats before eating them.

Homeowners are encouraged to keep their properties well-lit and walkways clear of tripping hazards, while motorists are reminded never to drive distracted or impaired.

The police dogs also encourage trick-or-treaters to wear bright colours, glow sticks and reflective gear to help remain visible to motorists.

The message is simple: stay safe and have a happy Halloween!
