Emergency crews responded to a second motor vehicle collision involving an electric scooter this week on Friday evening (October 30th).

At approximately 5:25 p.m., personnel with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department, Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC), and NL Health Services were called to a collision involving a car and an electric scooter at the crosswalk of the Topsail Road and McNamara Drive roundabout in Paradise.

When firefighters arrived, they located an injured rider on the ground with a car nearby. The rider was assessed by firefighters, who waited for the arrival of an ambulance.

Nearly 30 minutes later, paramedics arrived and, with assistance from firefighters, placed the injured rider onto a stretcher and into the ambulance. The rider was transported to hospital with what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Topsail Road westbound at the roundabout was completely closed while emergency crews responded, resulting in significant traffic backups during the evening commute.

This marks the second collision involving an electric scooter this week. Other story here: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1HajbhXvEr/?mibextid=wwXIfr
