AMBULANCE INVOLVED COLLISION SENDS 7 TO HOSPITAL

(July 23rd)
Seven people were taken to hospital following a collision involving an ambulance and a passenger vehicle at the intersection of Kevin Parsons Highway (Torbay Bypass) and Bauline Line Thursday afternoon.
According to the Torbay Volunteer Fire Department, the collision occurred at approximately 2:40 p.m. Firefighters, along with NL Health Services and the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC), responded to the scene.
The ambulance appeared to have been travelling westbound on Bauline Line, while the passenger vehicle was travelling northbound on Kevin Parsons Highway. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
RNC Collision Investigation Officers alongside Forensic Officers documented the crash. Traffic was diverted through the turning lanes around the intersection, resulting in only minor delays for motorists.
The Torbay Volunteer Fire Department confirmed that seven people were transported to hospital, but said it had no additional information regarding the patients’ conditions.
An RNC Sergeant later confirmed that the injuries sustained in the collision are believed to be non-life-threatening.
