Early Morning Fire Destroys Structure in Tors Cove

Tors Cove, N.L. - A residential structure fire in Tors Cove early Wednesday morning has resulted in the total loss of a what’s believed to be a cabin. Firefighters with the Witless Bay Volunteer Fire Department (WVFD) responded to the blaze shortly after 4:00 a.m., following a report from a passerby.
Upon arrival, fire crews confirmed the structure fire and immediately began efforts to suppress the fire. The building was completely destroyed.
The building was believed to be unoccupied at the time of the fire, and no injuries have been reported.
Later in the afternoon, around 3:00 p.m., firefighters were called back to the scene for a relight of the fire, as well as to address lingering hotspots and ensure the area was safe.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and officials have not released any additional information at this time.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
