Early Morning Fire Destroys Vacant Two-Unit Home in St. John’s

June 23, 2025 - A large fire broke out early this morning in a two-unit residential property in St. John’s, prompting a major response from fire crews. The blaze was reported just before 5:00 AM and quickly escalated due to the intensity of the flames and the potential risk to nearby structures.

St. John’s Regional Fire Department responded with a full complement of resources, including three engines, two rescue units, a ladder truck, and several support vehicles.

Fortunately, both units of the home were vacant at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported, and no residents were displaced as a result.

Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control after an extended effort, but the structure sustained significant fire and water damage. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Crews remained on scene into the morning hours to conduct overhaul operations and ensure the fire was fully extinguished
