Newfoundland and Labrador (N.L.) - On Sunday (April 13), firefighters across the province have been busy responding to multiple reported brush fires.
One in particular is a large forest fire burning on Random Island near the Town of Clarenville. Emergency crews were dispatched to the blaze earlier this afternoon, and upon arrival, the fire was so significant that they had to call in a water tanker. At around 3:00 p.m., Clarenville RCMP reported that the road to Random Island, between Big Pond Road and Hickmans Harbour Exit, would be closed for about thirty-five minutes due to a water bomber in the area. Police are urging residents to avoid lighting brush fires at this time.
Firefighters have also responded to a reported brush fire in Whitbourne, Colliers. At this moment, it's unclear how severe these fires are.
The Bulletin will provide updates as they become available.
