Firefighters Make Quick Work of Shed Fire in Mount Pearl

Firefighters with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department (SJRFD) quickly extinguished a shed fire on Smallwood Drive in Mount Pearl Friday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m., when fire crews arrived on scene to find smoke billowing into the sky and flames visible from the rear of the property. A rapid assessment confirmed the source of the fire was a shed. Firefighters acted quickly, laying an attack line and deploying a supply line to tackle the blaze. The fire was brought under control in short order, with no injuries reported.

Fire officials told The Bulletin that a neighbour alerted the emergency communications center after noticing the fire. The shed sustained significant damage, though no surrounding structures were affected.

Smallwood Drive was closed between Commonwealth Avenue and Bannister Street while crews worked, and has since reopened.

An official cause has not been released.
