Fishing Structures Destroyed by Late-Night Fire in Quidi Vidi Harbour

Shortly after 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday night, July 29, multiple callers reported a structure fire in Quidi Vidi Harbour to the St. John's Regional Fire Department (SJRFD).

A fire official responded to the scene and assessed the situation. It was determined that the fire could only be accessed by boat, presenting challenges for firefighting efforts.

The department’s primary concern was the potential for the fire to spread uphill and ignite a forest fire. While a brush fire did occur as a result of flankers, officials confirmed it was not serious.

By 4:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, the fire had extinguished itself.
