Emergency crews responded to a residential structure fire on Wednesday afternoon (October 1st) in the Southlands community of St. John’s.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., firefighters with the St. John's Regional Fire Department (SJRFD), along with personnel from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) and NL Health Services (NLHS), were dispatched to a home on Brad Gushue Crescent.

Upon arrival, fire crews found a blaze in the garage of the residence, which was up for sale and actively being inspected at the time. Firefighters quickly deployed an attack line and brought the fire under control.

The fire was contained to the garage, where it caused extensive damage to an interior wall and some garage equipment. Smoke had spread throughout parts of the home, but firefighters were able to ventilate the structure using a fan to clear the affected areas.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
