A 33-year-old Bishop’s Falls man has been arrested and charged with impaired driving after RCMP in Grand Falls-Windsor responded to a report of a possible impaired driver early Wednesday morning.

Shortly before 12:30 a.m. on August 19, Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP received a call from a concerned resident about a possible impaired driver travelling erratically westbound along the Trans-Canada Highway entering the Grand Falls area.

Police located the described vehicle stopped in the parking lot of a business on Cromer Avenue.

During their interaction with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment. The 33-year-old man was arrested for impaired driving and provided with a breath demand.

He was transported to the Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP detachment, where breath testing confirmed his level of alcohol was over the legal limit.

Police also searched the vehicle and located open containers of alcohol.

The vehicle was seized and impounded, and the man’s driver’s licence was suspended.

He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Grand Falls-Windsor Provincial Court in November 2026 to answer to charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and impaired operation over 80 mg%.

RCMP remind the public that impaired operation of any motor vehicle places the driver and others at an increased and unnecessary risk.

Anyone who suspects an individual is driving while impaired is asked to immediately call 911.
