MAN STRUCK BY METROBUS ON ELIZABETH AVENUE

On Wednesday night, July 29th, emergency crews responded to a vehicle-pedestrian collision involving a Metrobus on Elizabeth Avenue in St. John’s.
At approximately 9:45 p.m., first responders were called to the scene near Elizabeth Towers, located between Portugal Cove Road and Downing Street.
Upon arrival, emergency crews located an injured male pedestrian. Firefighters with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department and NL Health Paramedics assessed the man at the scene before he was transported by ambulance to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. There were no injuries reported to the bus driver or passengers.
Elizabeth Avenue was fully closed between Portugal Cove Road and Downing Street while members of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary’s Patrol Services secured the area and awaited the arrival of the RNC Collision Investigation Team.
Collision investigators conducted an examination of the scene before the roadway was reopened approximately one hour later.
