(August 12), Just before 1:30 a.m., St. John’s Regional Fire Department responded to a major house fire that displaced multiple residents and damaged neighbouring properties.

Crews arrived to find heavy fire and smoke coming from the main house. Three people from that home were displaced. A cat was also rescued from the residence.

Neighbours on one side were forced from their home due to fire and water damage. On the other side, RNC officers rescued a resident from a basement apartment after fire blocked access to their door. That home sustained minor fire damage but the residents aren’t believed to be displaced.

Firefighters used a ladder truck for an aerial attack and deployed multiple attack lines to bring the blaze under control.
