It was a heartbreaking weekend in Phillips Head after a devastating house fire destroyed the home of a local resident, says an official with the Point of Bay & Phillips Head Fire Department. They also noted that there were no injuries, but the homeowner escaped with only the clothes he was wearing at the time.

In the wake of the tragic loss, heartfelt thanks have been extended to all firefighters and neighbouring departments who responded and worked to control the blaze, says the department.

The Point of Bay and Phillips Head Fire Department has now organized a donation drive to support the resident as he begins to rebuild. Donations will be accepted Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Point of Bay fire hall.

The resident is in need of warm clothing. Requested items include:

- Size 34 jeans

- Large shirts

- Medium underwear

- Socks

- Warm clothing of any kind

Anyone willing and able to help is encouraged to reach out to members of the fire department. Community members are also asked to share this information to help spread the word.

The department thanks everyone for their kindness and support during this difficult time.
