QUEBEC MAN THREATENS TO BOMB WABUSH AIRPORT; NOW FACING CHARGES

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) has charged a 30-year-old Quebec man following a bomb threat at the Wabush Airport.


Operational Patrol Services responded to the airport at approximately 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 30, after a man was removed from an aircraft.


The airport was subsequently evacuated and searched. Police determined the threat was unfounded.


As a result of the investigation, Sylvestre Brian Essimeu St-Onge Vollant, 30, has been charged with:

- Public mischief

- Uttering threats

- Causing a disturbance

- Breach of probation


The accused was held to appear in court today.


The RNC encourages anyone who witnesses suspicious activity to report it directly to police at 709-729-8000. Crimes in progress should be reported by calling 911.
