FIREARM THREAT ON BUCKMASTER’S CIRCLE

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) has arrested a 34-year-old man in St. John’s on multiple firearms-related offences.

Operational Patrol Services responded to a report of a weapons offence in the Buckmaster’s Circle area on Saturday, Aug. 29, at approximately 7:45 p.m.

Police say a female reported being threatened by a male in a vehicle who was in possession of a firearm. The two individuals were known to one another.

The suspect was located at a nearby home and taken into custody.

The RNC Tactics and Rescue Unit assisted the Criminal Investigation Division with a search of the home due to public and officer safety concerns. No firearm was located during the search.

Ramadan Berisa, 34, has been charged with:

- Two counts of assault with a weapon or imitation weapon

- Two counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm

- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

- Using a firearm in the commission of an indictable offence

- Careless use of a firearm

- Unauthorized possession of a firearm

- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm

- Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle

The RNC continues to encourage anyone who witnesses suspicious activity to report it directly to police at 709-729-8000. Crimes in progress should be reported by calling 911.
