One person was transported to hospital following a motor vehicle collision on Danny Drive in the Galway area of St. John’s Tuesday afternoon.

Just before 3:30 p.m. on September 1st, emergency crews including personnel from the St. John’s Regional Fire Department, Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and NL Health Services responded to the collision near the first entrance to Costco, located behind Under Armour. The crash involved at least two pickup trucks, one of which was hauling an enclosed trailer.

When first responders arrived, they located both pickup trucks. One vehicle sustained extensive front-end damage, while the other sustained moderate to extensive damage.

An official with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department confirmed at the scene that one person in the pickup truck that sustained the most damage was injured and required medical transport to hospital. Firefighters assisted those involved while waiting for an ambulance to arrive.

Once paramedics arrived, a stretcher was brought to the injured person. Firefighters and paramedics assisted the individual onto the stretcher before they were transported to hospital with what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The occupant(s) of the other pickup truck appeared to be unharmed.

Danny Drive in the area of the first Costco entrance was completely closed in both directions for a period of time while emergency crews worked at the scene.

The roadway was reopened once the scene was managed and cleared.
