The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is seeking information from the public as it continues to investigate a serious collision involving a motorcycle and a dirt bike in Conception Bay South.
Shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, emergency personnel with the Conception Bay South Fire Department, RNC and NL Health Services responded to Peacekeepers Way, just east of the Ledrew’s Road overpass, between Foxtrap Access Road and Legion Road.
When first responders arrived, they located two seriously injured people. The collision involved a dirt bike and a motorcycle.
The lone operators of both vehicles were transported to hospital. The RNC has identified them as two males, aged 30 and 14. Their injuries are considered serious but are not believed to be life-threatening.
Due to the severity of the collision, the RNC’s Collision Reconstructionists were engaged and attended the scene. Officers remained in the area for roughly three hours while conducting their investigation, using markings, spray paint and photography to document the collision. An RNC drone was also deployed to assist.
Peacekeepers Way between Foxtrap Access Road and Legoin Road was fully closed while the investigation was underway.
The RNC is now asking anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have video footage from the
area in the lead-up to or immediately following the crash to come forward. This includes CCTV, dash-camera or cellphone video.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the RNC at 709-729-8000.
