Firefighters with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department (SJRFD) responded to a residential structure fire on Tuesday evening (Dec 2), in the Kilbride area of St. John’s.

The call came in around 6:20 p.m. for a home on Valleyview Road. Upon arrival, crews were met with heavy flames and thick smoke engulfing the deck and the entire exterior wall of the residence. Firefighters immediately began assessing the rapidly developing situation, deploying attack lines and establishing a supply line to secure adequate water for suppression efforts.

Once water was engaged, crews quickly knocked down the intense blaze, preventing the fire from spreading further into the home and nearby properties.

An SJRFD official confirmed that two residents were displaced as a result of the fire and there no injuries reported. However, the residence sustained extensive fire, water, and smoke damage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
