RNC Investigating Vehicle-Pedestrian Collision in St. John's

St. John’s, N.L. — A pedestrian was hospitalized Tuesday night (July 8), following a collision in the east end of St. John’s, prompting an investigation by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC).
Emergency crews responded to the scene on Torbay Road, just south of MacDonald Drive near a Tim Hortons location, shortly before 10:20 p.m. The incident involved a northbound pickup truck that struck a pedestrian. When first responders arrived on the scene they found an injured individual laying on the roadway. The damaged pickup truck came to a stop several feet up the road. Paramedics, with the assistance of St. John's Regional Firefighters assisted the injured individual into a nearby ambulance, where the individual was then transported to the hospital with what appeared to be serious injuries.
The RNC's Collision Reconstruction Team, with assistance from the Forensic Identification Section were called to the scene to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Police will release more information as the investigation progresses.
