Mount Pearl, NL - Firefighters from the St. John’s Regional Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire on O’Flaherty Crescent in Mount Pearl just before 10:30p.m on Saturday evening.
Crews were called to the scene after reports of visible flames at the rear of a home. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that flames had spread upward, reaching the eaves of the home.
Three people were home in the upstairs apartment at the time of the fire. Fortunately, all occupants were safely alerted by a neighbour and were able to evacuate without injury.
The fire caused significant damage to the exterior of the home. The kitchen area inside also sustained damage, primarily due to fire suppression efforts.
