Two Residents Displaced Following St John's Apartment Fire

St. John's | N.L. – Firefighters with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department (SJRFD) responded to a commercial structure fire at the Freshwater Road Apartments on Tuesday evening, May 13. The incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. at Building #2, located in the city’s centre. Upon arrival, fire crews discovered an active fire in a third-floor apartment, where flames had originated from the oven. The fire quickly spread, damaging surrounding kitchen cabinets and filling both the third and fourth floors with smoke. Firefighters acted quickly to contain the blaze and prevent further spread. Smoke had traveled to upper levels, causing minor smoke damage throughout.
While no injuries were reported, two residents were displaced due to fire. All other tenants were cleared to return to their apartments following the response.
