Emergency crews were called during the late evening hours of March 6 (Friday), to a vehicle–pedestrian collision on Conception Bay Highway between Kerry Avenue and Erica Avenue.
When first responders arrived, they found a pedestrian who had been struck by a minivan travelling eastbound in the right lane.
Paramedics with NL Health Services treated the injured person at the scene before transporting them by ambulance to hospital with serious injuries.
Officers with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Patrol Services closed all eastbound traffic and reduced westbound traffic to a single lane while emergency crews worked at the scene and investigators began examining the collision.
Members of the RNC Traffic Services, Accident Investigation unit and the Forensic Identification Section also attended to assist with the investigation.
Traffic in the area was slowed while police conducted their investigation, but the roadway has since reopened.
