WOMAN CHARGED FOLLOWING WEEKEND STABBING IN ST. JOHN’S

A 36-year-old woman has been charged following a stabbing in the Virginia Park area of St. John’s over the weekend.

According to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC), officers with Operational Patrol Services responded to the east end neighbourhood just after 9:30 a.m. on Saturday (May 16), where they located a man suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital for treatment.

Police say the female suspect was located at a nearby residence and taken into custody without further incident.

Andrea Whiteway is charged with:

- Assault with a weapon

- Assault causing bodily harm

- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

- Resisting arrest

The RNC says the man and woman were known to one another.

Whiteway is scheduled to appear in court today. The investigation remains ongoing.
