A two-vehicle collision on Topsail Road at the eastbound on-ramp for the Outer Ring Road resulted in significant traffic disruptions and sent two people to the hospital Thursday evening.

Emergency services received the call just before 7 p.m., reporting a serious crash that left both vehicles with substantial damage. Paramedics arrived on the scene and transported one individual to the hospital. However, a second injured person was forced to wait over an hour for a second ambulance to arrive.

The accident caused a complete stoppage of northbound traffic on Topsail Road, leading to major congestion in the area. When additional officers from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) arrived, they implemented an alternating two-lane system to help ease the traffic backup.

As of the latest update, tow truck operators are on the scene working to remove the damaged vehicles and clear debris. Motorists are advised to expect continued delays as cleanup efforts continue.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the RNC.
