St. John’s, NL – A single-vehicle crash in St. John’s Friday morning resulted in extensive damage to a home and sent one person to the hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.

The St. John’s Regional Fire Department responded to the call in the early hours of Friday morning after a vehicle left the roadway on Elizabeth Avenue and struck the corner of a house near its garage.

Emergency crews arrived quickly at the scene, where the car had come to rest partially embedded in the structure. Paramedics treated the driver at the scene before transporting them to the hospital.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary’s Traffic Services division is investigating the cause of the crash. While the circumstances remain unclear, the section of Elizabeth Avenue was closed to traffic during the investigation.

Newfoundland Power was also called to the scene to assess potential electrical damage and ensure there were no immediate hazards from the collision.

No one inside the home was injured, but the property sustained significant structural damage
