PARADISE, NL - June 14, 2025 - A major fire on Willow Drive in Paradise destroyed multiple structures Saturday afternoon, displacing at least four residents and sending one person to hospital for assessment.
Firefighters with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department (SJRFD) responded around 3:00 p.m. to reports of a multi-structure fire. Upon arrival, crews were met with heavy smoke and visible flames. Attack lines were quickly deployed, and multiple water supply lines were established to combat the growing blaze.
Additional firefighting units, including a dedicated water supply truck, were brought in to support the operation. Crews also utilized a truck-mounted water cannon capable of spraying 500 gallons of water per minute at 100 psi to ensure the fire was fully extinguished and hotspots were eliminated.
It took approximately 30 minutes to bring the fire under control. Despite firefighters’ efforts, two homes, a garage, and two vehicles were destroyed.
The homeowner of one of the affected properties was transported to hospital as a precaution to be assessed for potential smoke inhalation or other injuries. No other injuries have been reported.
Initial observations suggest the fire may have started in the garage, though the exact cause remains under investigation by fire officials.
At least four residents from two separate homes have been displaced, and emergency support services are assisting those impacted.
The investigation into the origin and cause of the fire is ongoing.
