Emergency crews responded to a multi-vehicle collision on the Outer Ring Road early Tuesday morning that sent several people to hospital and caused significant traffic delays across the metro area.
At approximately 7:50 a.m., firefighters with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department (SJRFD), along with members of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) and NL Health Services (NLHS), were called to the scene of a collision near the Thorburn Road overpass.
When first responders arrived, they discovered more than four vehicles involved in the crash. At least five individuals were transported to hospital with unknown injuries.
The incident resulted in major delays throughout the Paradise and Mount Pearl areas during the morning commute. The Outer Ring Road eastbound between Topsail Road and Thorburn Road was closed for roughly two hours while emergency crews worked to clear the scene and assess the cause of the collision
